How many pairs of footwear does the typical woman own? The answer to this might range from anything from 10 to 20, and probably somewhere in the 300-figure-mark, if you're a fan of Imelda Marcos. Apart from bags, shoes also are a woman's best friend and often, shoes help you find a best friend.

Sole of the matter
One such sole-lover is Chondamma Cariappa, who runs the blog, thesolesisters.blogspot.com. Cariappa, like many women, used to post pictures of the footwear she bought from across the globe, on her Facebook page. "My friends liked those photographs. It also contained information about the pricing as well as details about where I purchased it. I decided to start a blog where any woman can mail me a picture of a pair she owns with the details of where they have been bought from and the price. I chose one picture everyday for the blog," says Cariappa.

Cariappa later started a Facebook page dedicated to Sole Sisters, which now has more than a 1,000 fans. Actress Sonakshi Sinha also makes an appearance on the blog. One of the followers of the blog rued the fact that there are so many good boots to buy but one can't wear them in Mumbai. This is what Cariappa had in mind while planning this first meet of Sole Sisters. The Bootleggers party is where women in the city will finally get a chance to show off their prized boots, whichu00a0 might have probably been gathering dust thanks to Mumbai's rains.

Owing to the growing buzz around her blog, Cariappa plans to launch a website where women can send in reviews and shop for shoes. The shoe-loving advertising professional is gung ho about her unique venture, "I am happy that finally, numerous readers can meet up for a common passion. Followers from other cities have also sent their posts of similar themed eventsu00a0 as well."
