Produced by filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee and presented by YRF, the film was in development for over two years. Monga will be responsible for charting out a road map so that the film ensures a wider audience internationally.
'Titli' is a very strong film and I am thrilled to be a part of the team assisting in the international approach. It took us the last five years to be able to create the right platform and the interest for the new wave hitting Indian cinema internationally. With 'Titli', I hope to take it forward," Monga said in a statement. Producer Dibakar Banerjee said Behl's film's take on patriarchy and family system makes it "both universal and uniquely personal".
"The aim is to get it out there, reaching out to a larger world cinema audience, for a view into an India as yet unknown. I am happy that Guneet is on board to assist us in achieving that," Dibakar said.
Avatar Panesar, vice president, international operations at YRF said, 'Titli' is a very special film for us as it's a departure from making big budget event films, which have allowed us to break new ground in non-traditional territory... We are delighted to have Guneet on 'Titli', exploring a wider audience beyond the diaspora."
