Indian speedster Zaheer Khan will miss the Champions Trophy in September due to a surgery on his left shoulder. The 30-year-old left-arm pacer had injured his shoulder during the Indian Premier League in April-May.
He is expected to return to the international fold by the end of this year.
Confirming this, Board of Control for Cricket in Indian (BCCI) secretary N. Srinivasan in a statement said: "Zaheer Khan had an arthroscopic labral repair in his left shoulder on July 13 by the Johannesburg-based doctor Mark Ferguson. Zaheer is undergoing rehabilitation in South Africa and is recovering very well. Zaheer will return to India on August 9 for 10 days. He will fly back to South Africa for further rehabilitation on his shoulder."
The Champions Trophy begins on September 22.
