Zhenda the film portraying the feud between Raj and Uddhav Thackeray has run into a political storm.

Interestingly, even after a grand premiere in Pune last week, the release of the film has been stalled indefinitely.

And this time it is Nitesh Rane who has objected to the film. The film apparently has a character called Sada Malvankar who has a striking resemblance to his father Narayan Rane. Members of Swabhiman, an organization run by Nitesh, have opposed the film and demanded certain portions to be cut.

Talking to MiD DAY, Nitesh, president of Swabhiman said, "I have seen some video clippings of the movie. It is disgusting that the Malvani dilect and the name Malvankar was used which has a close resemblance with Rane saheb in the film. There were instances of Sindudurg, Narayan Rane's constituency and the character in the film has been shown as a corrupt minister."

Filmmaker Avdhut Gupte has finally agreed to make changes in the film. He has agreed to change the Malvani dialect and also change the character portrayal in the film even though his film had been cleared from the censor board. "My film has been cleared by the censor board. One should resort to the legal method if one wants to oppose the film. There is no need to create problems at theatres where the film is scheduled to be released."

Ajay Sarpotday, president, Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, said, "We will support Zhenda and Gupte if he comes to us for support. We strongly feel that it is not required to screen the film and take people's approval before it is released."

Meanwhile, sources from Gupte's camp revealed that the film will be released after making certain changes including the references of Malvan. The minister will be portrayed from the western region of Maharashtra instead of Malvan, the hometown of Narayan Rane.
