The photographer who is gearing up to release a book shares some pictures from his archives with CS, while recounting the stories behind each of them:

Madhuri's magic
I wanted to shoot with Madhuri (Dixit) prior to her birthday so producer Rakesh Nath suggested that I come to his office. I took a cake along, but the lighting in his office was terrible. The small garden outside seemed like a better location. I put the cake on a low table, but it didn't make for a great picture composition. So Madhuri got several fat directories to raise the level. The picture couldn't have been better

There aren't too many pictures of Aishwariya Rai floating around that were shot at the start of her career. I clicked this one at a fashion show held at the race course. She wowed all of us even then

Big B's bigger picture
I shot this in 1991. When I saw Amitabh coming out in a black tee, I thought I wouldn't get a unique picture. So I told the journalist with me to use a stock photograph. After stepping out, I realised that I had a great shot from the lawn. The picture got a double spread

This picture was my first. I remember accompanying my brother to Filmistan when I was still in school. In the scene that was being shot, Waheeda Rehman is supposed to be sleeping in Dev Anand's arms. Then suddenly a motorcycle's lights hit her face and bingo, I had a great picture
