Yes, I do agree with the Supreme Court. There ought to be an age-limit on air hostesses. And 50 sounds pretty generous to me. I also think the rule should apply to their male counterparts.
The gender discrimination is what gets the ladies riled (which is understandable), and I think once parity is maintained between the sexes, most of the heart-burn would get sorted out.
There are two reasons why I feel 50 it is. One, god forbid, in case of an emergency, and one has to always account for it, the last thing you need is a wobbly, palpitating, infirm crew member. And two, yes, once, on an Indian Airlines flight, I chose to forget about the extra cup of chai I needed.
The senior citizen serving my side of the plane was huddled in a corner, completely breathless from the hectic breakfast routine. A hesitating, sorry-feeling, reluctant passenger? Doesnt sound too good for an airline, does it?
