Pensioner’s Paradise, Garden City, India’s Silicon Valley, Bangalore or more aptly Bengaluru, is all this and much more. Over the years this once quiet city has grown into a very large metropolis, a global city with changing demographics and a different identity.
Since migration and urbanization have been underlying themes in my recent work, photographing Bangalore for this project fitted in well with my current concerns. I decided to seek out people from different parts of the country, even expatriates and feature them in the stories of the events taking place on the hour.
Each hour became an intersection of different stories. Hopefully, these pictures have brought those stories alive. I have decided to present the Bangalore 9 to 5 as a series of related images. |
