Breast cancer awareness
The Asia Pacific Reach to Recovery International Breast Cancer Support conference on at the Hilton Towers had a stimulating pre-lunch session that focused on personal stories that spoke about the importance of support groups and the fear of recurrence.
A breast cancer survivor, Gopa, spoke about her experience. When I was told I had cancer, I needed to do something to conquer my fear of the treatment I was going to have. So, I went skydiving, she said to applause.
Another personal anecdote was, While I was undergoing chemotherapy, my husband told me, now you are damaged goods. You are so lucky to have me. At that time, I decided I am going to plant my own flowers.
She added that the concept of support groups has still to take root in India.
Another speaker spoke about the fear of recurrence, which is normal and the four stages that come after cancer has been diagnosed denial, rage, fear and acceptance were outlined. On issues of self-image and sexuality she said, Counselling of the husband too is very important.
Stark, moving and disturbing at times, this conferences appeal lies in the fact that it resonates with laypersons and its raw edges are not smoothed down by political correctness.

Well, well, well, what do you know? We have quite a pot pourri on the Bigg Boss tonight with the Bhojpuri biggie coming to the show.
(As big in Bhojpuri films as Amitabh is in Bollywood today.)
So, Kissen gives Salil Ankola the hey-good-lookin you-are-hookin ticket by saying, there is no cricketer in India as handsome as Salil Ankola. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor on the show continues this mutual admiration society, telling Rakhi Sawant you are a rock star, yaar. This sends Rakhi into paroxysms of delight. Kareenas squeeze has entered Bigg Boss to promote his film Vivaah which continues the trend of television programs being used to promote films.
Viewers will remember how Dhoom II was heavily promoted by Set Max Extraaa Innings recently.
Meanwhile, Ravi Kishen says sorry to viewers for using foul language, says he was under stress when he said that.
Convenient, convenient.
However we like the bitchy Kashmera Shah who says Rakhi is an item gal but I am ahem-ahem very classy. Shut up Kashmera. You heard what Shahid said tujhe dho daala.

Jessicas never-ending case
With all the twists and turns in the Jessica Lal case, it seems the road to justice has just got longer.
From acquitting all the accused to prime witness Bina Ramanis arrest, the case has had enough of drama and intrigue.
Now, criminal defence lawyer Ram Jethmalanis contention that it was
a Sikh in a red turban and not accused Manu Sharma who fired at Jessica has put yet another twist to this tale that has gone on long enough.
