Bollywood actress, Pooja Batra was arrested by the DN Nagar police for assaulting a postman. The postman visited her residence to deliver a speed post parcel on Friday afternoon.

According to police sources, Santosh Vishnu Marathe (29) a postman attached to Azad Maidan post office visited Batra's residence at Aishwarya building, in Andheri (W) to deliver a speed post parcel while Batra's family were partying.

When Marathe rang the doorbell of the flat, Batra's brother and her bodyguard approached him and asked to hand over the parcel to them. Marathe denied doing so, as he was in need of Batra's signature as a proof that the parcel had been handed over to her.

Soon the trio started arguing over the issue and Batra intervened. After heated arguments Batra and her bodyguard in a fit of rage, assaulted the postman. Marathe was severely injured after which he rushed himself to Cooper hospital and registered a complaint under section 353, 332 and 114 of Indian Penal Code.

The DN Nagar police arrested Batra and later released her on a cash bail of Rs 950. Meanwhile her bodyguard is still at large.

Police Inspector, Sunil Deshmukh said, "We arrested Batra for creating disruption while the government employee performed his duty. Meanwhile her bodyguard is yet to be traced."
