Karisma Kapoor is now on TV!
By:

Karisma Kapoor is all set to take on television with a serial called Karisma - The Miracles of Destiny to go on air on Sahara TV in early 2003. The serial, the costliest ever in Indian television history, will be shot all over the world.

The first schedule will begin by the end of the year in New Zealand. The serial will have 52 songs by nine music directors including Anu Maliik. The soap, Karishma - The Miracles of Destiny will air at prime time four times a week.

Karisma Kapoor has a double role for the first time in her career in this tele-series. She plays a grandmother and a granddaughter in the serial, which also has nine men in the cast including Sanjay Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Arshad Warsi, Jugal Hansraj, Salil Ankola, Parmeet Sethi, Sharad Kapoor and Apoorva Agnihotri. Special effects are being used to create the double role effect, informs a source.

Karisma - The Miracles of Destiny has been conceived and created by Akashdeep (Ghaath) and will be directed by Anurag Bose (Koshish Ek Asha). Sachin Bhaumick (Aradhana) is writing the serial and Ramesh Sippy has been approached to be the creative consultant on the show. Interestingly, Akashdeep was the same person who had got Govinda to do Jeeto Chhapar Phaad Ke on Sony TV before Ajay Kapoor took over as director of the show.

Karisma formerly forayed into television as the SABe TV ambassador, but here she is acting in what is said to be a fabulous story centred on a woman. She has been offered a fantastic sum of money for the role, confirm sources close to the actress. However, when asked whether she was entering television, the actress refused to comment. She will be the first top heroine to have a serial on air at the same time as her films are on the big screen.

Priya Raj, head of PR, vice-president, Sahara TV refused to comment till the end of the week. For trivia hunters, Anurag Bose is a Balaji Telefilms find and both Koshish Ek Asha and Karisma - The Miracles of Destiny start with K.
