Mumbai: After all the hype, Vishal Nihalanis Mumbai Sey Aaya Mera Dost (MSAMD) starring Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Datta will not be premiered at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards event being held at Johannesburg this Thursday.

Instead, a star-studded day-and-night charity cricket match will be played at the Centurion Cricket Ground.

Confirming this development, Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft which is hosting this mega-event, said, Considering the major crisis in Bollywood relating to the cinema theatre strike, the theatrical release of MSAMD has been postponed. So this protocol change was inevitable.

The Amitabh Bachchan-Anil Kapoor-Preity Zinta starrer Armaan, produced by Dinesh Gandhi, whose premiere plans were kept under wraps, will now be screened the following day at the Samsung IIFA event in South Africa amid much fanfare.

Despite the imminent closure of cinema theatres all over Maharashtra, Armaan is going ahead and will be screened at select theatres and multiplexes which are not participating in the theatre bandh.

For more on the charity cricket match, the Bollywood stars to don cricketing flannels will be led by Suneil Shetty and include Salman Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bobby Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Saif Ali Khan.

The cricketers team includes Dinesh Mongia, Zaheer Khan, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Ajay Jadeja, and Azharuddin. According to Joseph, proceeds of the match will be donated to bereaved families of cine-workers who have lost their limbs or lives while on duty.
