UK university to bestow an honorary degree on the actress!

Looks like Big Brother is being extremely generous to Shilpa Shetty, who is all set to get an honorary doctorate from Leeds Metropolitan University. Shilpa will be visiting the varsity to attend a seminar and will be felicitated with this honour. Says a source, “Shilpa received a letter from Leeds Metropolitan University immediately after her visit to Yorkshire. The letter states that the University wants to award Shilpa an honorary doctorate for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.” Fostering diversity Shilpa’s spokesperson confirms the news saying, “If Shilpa accepts, the conferment will be in recognition of her contribution to cultural diversity and good relations between the people of UK and India. She is an icon in the UK and this award will help Shilpa bridge the gap between the two countries.” In good company Incidentally, the same university conferred an honorary doctorate to Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi and Yash Chopra last year. Meanwhile, Shilpa is all set to showcase her talents on an international stage in a musical based on Bollywood. “The reason Shilpa agreed to do the musical was because she wants foreigners to get familiar with Indian culture,” adds her spokesperson.
