| Both the production houses are releasing toon-films next year; one’s protagonist is an elephant, while the other’s is a dog
After the super success of Hanuman, Percept Picture Company is about to release a sequel titled Hanuman Returns. However, not many know that PPC is also working on another animation flick that will take on Yash Raj’s animation flick titled Roadside Romeo, about a couple of canines. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are dubbing for the same. A source reveals that the yet-untitled Percept project has an elephant in the lead role, “It’s a huge project; not just in size but also content wise. Percept is going to make sure it’s as big as a success as Hanuman, if not less. Also, it’s being made with the latest technology using 3-D animation.” Jumbo vs Pooch We spoke to Shailendra Singh, joint MD, Percept Holdings who confirms the same and says, “Yes, we are working on a huge animation film. It will be releasing in April 2008.” When asked if he is aware of the Yash Raj’s Roadside Romeo, he adds, “Of course, we are aware of the Yashraj film. All I can say is that the elephant is going to take the wind out of the dog!” An insider reveals that the first look of the elephant film will be unveiled on December 28, when Hanuman Returns releases. “The teaser of the PPC makes a smart dig at Yashrajs’ Roadside Romeo. The promo shows the elephant bellowing at the dog and scaring him away. The dog has an uncanny resemblance to the Roadside Romeo dog.” Yash Raj spokesperson, Monika Bhattacharya, claims, “We are not aware of the film (the PPC project).” About Roadside Romeo’s release, she simply states, “The date isn’t fixed yet, but it should be some time in June.” | |
