| The buzz is that ace scriptwriter, producer and director Mahesh Bhatt will act in a film. He will make his debut in Ekta Kapoor’s C Company, to be directed by debutant Sachin Yardi (who wrote the script for Kya Kool Hai Hum). The film is supposed to be a spoof on gangsters, with Tusshar Kapoor playing a wannabe gangster. Bhatt will play himself in C Company, and will be seen hosting a chat show in the film. Initially reluctant A source says, “Mahesh was not interested in acting in this film and has never been keen on facing camera. In fact, when Sachin Yardi went to him with the script, he refused to even give it a listen. He stated the reason for his reluctance as not being able to remember lines.” When Sachin learnt what was keeping Mahesh from accepting his offer, he decided to brief him about the situation and let him speak on his own. A source says, “Mahesh is very good with words. If someone gives him the idea of what is to be done, then he will spontaneously talk. Sachin wanted that spontaneous look in the scene.” It is heard that Sachin had approached Madhur Bhandarkar for the role, but was refused as he was busy with the pre-production work of his film Fashion. “Madhur would have done the role, but he was too occupied with his own film. He didn’t want to do the role half-heartedly,” says a close friend of Madhur. Silence, for once Bhatt confirms the news saying, “Yes. I am doing the film, but I am not in a position to talk about it. I think the best person would be director Sachin.” Incidentally, Bhatt first faced the camera in his assistant Harish Bhonsale’s Haque, where he played a political mentor to Anupam Kher’s character. C Company will also star Neetu Chandra, Anupam Kher and Rajpal Yadav. | |
