Together yet apart
Says a source, "Arpita hosted her birthday bash at the Grand Hyatt and didn't want any media focus on the event after the SRK-Salman fight at Katrina's birthday party.
After Malaika's no-show at Katrina's party ('Can't 'Kat'ch 'em all'; HiTLIST, July 19), things have worsened between the two. Katrina thinks Malaika has been spreading stories about her unpopularity in the 'Khan'daan, while Malaika thinks it's someone close to Katrina who is doing it."
Things came to a head at Arpita's 20th birthday party. "Both Kat and Malaika are very close to Arpita and came for her sake but avoided each other. When they arrived, the two greeted each other cordially for appearance's sake but after that, stood in far corners of the room. Malaika was mostly on the dance floor having a blast while Katrina stayed close to Salman."
Katrina denies that she shared cold vibes with Malaika. Initially, she texts to say, "You know me better than that. I have immense respect for Malaika and I love Arhaan (Arbaaz and Malaika's son) and Arbaaz. We had a great time!" Malaika, who wants to know what Katrina had to say, texts back curtly, "Ditto!" when we tell her about Katrina's message.
Can't be buddies
Later, an extremely upset Katrina called to ask us who is spreading these stories. "Is it anyone from the family? It was a family party and no media was present, so who is spreading these stories? It's rubbish and so unfair! Why am I being made the target and being blamed for everything? Malaika is a mother and a wife. She is a senior person with a six-year old child so we can't be buddies but I have great respect for her."

| Arpita Khan's birthday bash was attended by Salim and Salma Khan, Helen, Salman and Katrina Kaif, Arbaaz and Malaika, Sohail and Seema Khan, Dino Morea, Sajid Nadiadwala, Atul and Alvira Agnihotri, Ashish Choudhury, Vatsal Seth, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, Yuvraj Singh and Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. A source says, "Most people in B-Town did not want to take sides in the SRK-Sallu fight so they stayed away. Sallu's new pal Aamir Khan was missing and so was Sallu's favourite David Dhawan. The party was a drink-and-dance affair for young people and included several of Arpita's friends. Sohail played the bartender and served blue-coloured shots. The menu included kheema pau, pastas, Chinese, Indian and Continental with lots of desserts. DJ Bosco played music which included Singh Is Kinng tracks." |
