Off the field

M S Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh were the special guests for the grand finale of 9X's Chak De Bachche in which Deepak and Nishta were declared winners. The event at  NCPA, Nariman Point, on Saturday, was telecast live.

Besides performances by the kid participants and judges (Raveena Tandon, Ganesh Acharya, Salim-Suleiman), Yuvi did some hip-hop while Dhoni belted out a track.


Colours of freedom

Rang De Basanti, an Independence Day special event, showcasing performances by small screen stars was held by Star India at the St Andrew's auditorium, Bandra, over the weekend.

Top cop Kiran Bedi and cricketer S Sreesanth were also present. The event will be showcased on the channel on August 15.


Gap gayab

There is something different in Darsheel Safary's famous toothy grin. Look closely and you will find that the gap between his front teeth has disappeared.

The Taare Zameen Par star has finally had dental treatment. Protruding teeth may have looked cute in TZP, but the kid did need a little help after.


Spotted

Ajay Devgan with wife Kajol and daughter Nysa on Saturday night at the Marriott heading for dinner. The actor was bored after being laid up in bed with a sprained back after shooting for Toonpur Ka Superhero for two days and wanted to spend quality time with family.

When Nysa went up to the flower arrangements in the lobby and started touching them, an indulgent Papa Devgan gently took her away. Star papas, they are just like us!


AB's the most wanted

A walk-on role in Ambika Hinduja's Teen Patti was put up for auction at the Silver Star Appeal to raise funds to run a Mobile Diabetes Assessment Unit in the UK. The bid outdid other offers, such as a night out with Tina Turner and dinner with the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and fetched the highest amount: £25,000.

The bidder S Prakash Lohia will appear in the same frame as Amitabh Bachchan. Says Ambika, "I'm overwhelmed that Teen Patti could put itself in service of such a wonderful charity." The film, directed by Leena Yadav, is a thriller set in an engineering college. The film is produced by Hinduja's Serendipity Films.


It's hot stuff

Ranbir Kapoor was sighted at a promotional event of Bachna Ae Haseeno along with his three girlfriends (on screen) Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba.

At the end of it all, poor Ranbir's hair was standing on end! If you are dealing with three hot beauties all clamouring for attention at the same time, that's what happens, dahlin'.

Actor-producer Anuj Saxena held his birthday bash at a Juhu nightspot recently. Joining him in merry-making was the telly brigade which included Cezanne Khan,  Nausheen Ali Sardar, Narayani Shastri, Kiran Dubey, Urvashi Dholakia, Hussain Kuwajerwala and others besides film folk like Yukta Mookey, Poonam Dhillon, Ruslaan Mumtaz, Muzammil Ibrahim. Jagmohan Mundra who is making a film with Anuj was also present.
