Fan/Male: Sanjay Gadhvi with Sanjay Dutt on the sets of Kidnap

The promos of Sanjay Gadhvi's Kidnap have hit the screens. After Dhoom and more importantly, after leaving the Yash Raj banner, there is a lot of curiosity about the director's next flick which stars Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan along with Minissha Lamba.

Says Gadhvi, "Kidnap is the most crucial film of my career. At Yash Raj, there is that comfort level, now I have to make my mark."

The right vehicle

Though the buzz about the trailers has been good from both the film folk as well as the audience, Gadhvi is extremely anxious about the response to Kidnap, produced by Ashtavinayak, which releases on October 2.

"I think it is the right vehicle for me after Dhoom. It is the story of a man versus a boy. There was so much hype about both the Dhooms and I am lucky that both were such huge entertainers."

Sanju all the way

About Kidnap's casting, he says, "When I read Shibani Bhatija's script, I knew that it had to be Sanjay Dutt for the role. He plays the richest Indian in the world whose daughter (Minissha) is kidnapped by Imran. Even for Sanju, it is a unique role."

Apart from being the star of his film, Dutt also has a special place in Gadhvi's life. "I grew up on Amitabh Bachchan's films and also on Sanjay Dutt's. I was a typical south Mumbai guy but loved Sanju! I have seen all his films right from Rocky to Bekhudi to Johnny I Love You and Vidhaata. I could not bear anyone passing comments about him."

Starry-eyed fan

Though he has worked with the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom, he says that these were the stars whose premieres he attended. "But with Sanjay Dutt, it is a different equation. I was his fan."

Working with Dutt was also a singularly unique experience for Gadhvi. "Apart from having a big heart, he is, perhaps,  the only actor who does not want to see how he looks on the monitor after the shot is taken. Most actors want to see themselves but Sanju would tell me, "If it is okay with the director, I am happy!"
