Aamir Khan will take on a new role in the coming months. The actor has associated himself with the Incredible India's Atithi Devo Bhava campaign. As a part of the promotion, Aamir will actively be involved in a drive to create awareness about tourism and the attitude towards tourists.
The actor will be present at workshops to promote tourism in the country, and will personally interact with public transport drivers such as taxiwalas, auto rickshaw drivers and others to educate them about being hospitable with foreign tourists visiting our country.
Aamir was approached by the government officials to be a brand ambassador, but he decided to take on a more active role after reading about the campaign.
Active participant
A source reveals, "Aamir is not just the face of the Atithi Devo Bhava campaign. He will actively participate in various events throughout the year that will involve creating awareness about the safety and goodwill of foreign tourists. Through his blog, Aamir will also address the issue and talk about it to people around the world."
As a part of the initiative, the actor will also host workshops to train tour guides and educate cab drivers on personal grooming and interacting with tourists who don't speak the local language. He will also distribute pamphlets that will be used as guides by local transport drivers in cities.
Khan will also address issues like defacing public places, proper disposal of garbage and usage of public amenities. Aamir will be joined by Prasoon Joshi and film maker Rakeysh Mehra in the campaign.
