Kabul calling?
By: Bhanu Prakash E S

Bangalore:

Trust this director to do something out of the box! Director Om Prakash has quite silently begun work on his next film. This one's going to be Tamil his first in that language and will star Sharath Kumar.

The movie is being shot in Afghanistan and will eventually be dubbed into Hindi and Kannada.

Going Afghan

"I really don't want to compromise with anything in this movie. Since a veteran actor like Sharath Kumar has agreed to do the film, that should be an added inspiration for us to reach beyond the borders. More than half of the movie will shot in Afghanistan, because the script has been written with a backdrop of terrorism. Movies like Kabul Express did really well in the box office.
So, the movie will be a sort of an experiment in the south. I don't remember any South Indian movie being shot in Afghanistan," says Om Prakash.

Green signal

Shankar Gowda, who is producing the film, is in final talks with the Central Government. They require security papers to shoot in Afghanistan.

"Officials in Afghanistan have given us a clear picture of the whole scenario in the country. We have followed all their rules and regulations to shoot a movie in their land," says the producer.

Tough time

Producer Shankar Gowda faced a tough time while convincing actor Sharath Kumar for the film. "We had to go through many contacts to reach Sharath and then when we told him that the film needs to be shot in Afghanistan, he was a bit hesitant. He took more than 15 days and a second request from us to say 'yes'.

In the movie he plays the role of a cop chasing a terrorist. We're sure that this film will bring about a change in his image in the Tamil film industry," says Gowda.
