Mumbai: Hema Malini turns judge for Colors show
Hema Malini is the latest film personality to be roped in to be the judge of a dance reality show on Colors.
The dance diva will be judging a show called Dancing Queen, which replaces the big-mouthed Bigg Boss this month.
Though the official announcement of the judges is still some time away; it is reliably learnt that Hema Malini has given her consent for her first tenure as a judge on a reality show.
No jhatkas, please
Says the dancing diva, "I've been on one episode of a singing contest where Pandit Hridayanath Mangeshkar was also there.
But I've never been a full-time judge, and I am a little apprehensive.
I am a dancer, yes. But my nritya is very different from what these young people do on television," Hema Malini has never been a champion of filmi latka jhatkas though she has done enough of it in her own time.
Frank but not rude
The actress says doesn't have the Simon Cowell syndrome, like all other reality show judges, and promises she won't snub or berate the contestants, "I'm frank, but I'm not a rude person.
I can't be harsh to these young people and break their hearts. I've noticed the male judges are very aggressive while the women tend to be softer and sweet."
She says fitting television into her a choc-a-block schedule will be a problem. "My home is in the final phase of renovation.
Then from yesterday I started shooting for my new film Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi (where I play Rajmata Vijayraje Scindia).
In addition, there's the winter parliamentary session. Fortunately I've to shoot for the dance show only twice a week for a few hours.
And I like the busy schedule. It keeps me fit."
