Shahid Kapur the current heart throb of the nation was born to renowned actor Pankaj Kapoor and actress Neelima Azim on the 25th February 1981. Pankaj and Neelima separated when he was three and he then lived with his mother in Delhi but moved to Bombay at the age of 10.
He completed his schooling from Raj Hans and joined the popular Shaimak Davar academy of dance to get trained in dancing. He did a lot of dance shows with Shiamaks troupe and a few ads but his final aim was the movies.
Shahid Kapur worked as a junior artiste and a back up dancer in several films before finally landing the role of the main lead in Ken Ghosh's college romance caper Ishq Vishk. The movie also starred Amrita Rao and MTV VJ Shenaz Treasurywala.
His pairing with Amrita Rao resulted in quite a few hits and he wasn't able to replicate that success with any other actress.
After Ishq Vishk success eluded him and it was only with family entertainer specialist Sooraj R. Barjatya's Vivah that released in 2006 that he got his ticket to fame. Vivaah was also his largest grossing movie so far. He followed it up with the very appealing and popular hit in 2007, Jab We Met.
These two movies put Shahid Kapur firmly in the upper echelons of Bollywood. Height: 5' 7" (1.70 m)
