Mumbai: Ramu's next Agyaat is based on Schwarzenegger's 1987 hit
Ram Gopal Varma's frequent set visits to Mallika Sherawat starrer The Hisss happened for a reason. The Phoonk director wants to revisit the Schwarze-negger's classic creature flick Predator. RGV wants to make the film with new faces. Telugu actor Nitin is playing the main lead in the film, and the leading lady is a newcomer as well. The film will be shot in Sri Lanka. Remake first
A source in the industry says, "Ramu wanted to start his film on the media Rann next. After seeing the work being done in Hisss, he decided to make Agyaat first. The director will also co-produce this film."
The cast and crew left for the shooting of the film yesterday. It will a start-to-finish film. And Phoonk 2 and Rann are on hold till RGV finishes his Predator remake."
Approvals pending
The source further adds that this film is being kept hush-hush for a reason, "Ramu is planning to shoot the film in the jungles of Sri Lanka, which is teeming with the LTTE.
The filmmaker is currently getting the appropriate approvals by the Sri Lanka Tourism Board about the shooting. He is also geting in place his own security and that of the crew.
It is also believed that Ramu has been asking the producers of Hisss to help him with the alien creature for his film."
A dummies' guide to Predator Dutch (Schwarzenegger) and his group of commandos are hired by the CIA to rescue downed airmen from guerillas in a Central American jungle.
The mission goes well but as they return, they find that something is hunting them. Nearly invisible, it blends in with the forest, taking trophies from the bodies of its victims as it goes along.
Occasionally seeing through its eyes, the audience sees it is an intelligent alien hunter, hunting for sport, killing off victims one at a time.
