Shriya Saran has found a new pad. The Awarapan actress has shifted to Oberoi Sky High at Lokhandwala Complex. The actress used to  lived nearby, but has now moved into the tallest building in the neighbourhood.

“I moved just over a week ago and I am still doing up the place,” says Shriya who will be seen in Apoorva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul, Sangeeth Sivan’s Ek and Ashok Amritraj’s The Other End of The Line besides her south films.

Scouting for stuff

“There is no interior decorator at work, my parents (Neerja and Pushpendra Saran) and I are putting everything together. Whenever I am travelling or shooting at different locales, I pick up stuff for the home. I think I have collected enough. In fact, some of it is yet lying packed, waiting for its pride of place,” says Shriya.

She describes her abode to be full of curios from just about everywhere. “While shooting in Turkey for Mission Istanbul, I picked up a lot of Turkish lamps and curios.”

Her favourite possession is a Gautam Buddha painting, which she bought in Thailand. “This place had an artist at work. You could buy his handiwork if you liked his final product. When I happened to visit, he was painting the Buddha; I thought it was simply divine.” There is also a huge Sai Baba painting at her new abode “as my mother is an ardent devotee,” points out Shriya.

Fine balance

Though she started off with Southern films, she now wants to strike a balance with Hindi films as well. “I don’t know why people say Hindi films, Tamil films and Telugu films. I prefer to term them Indian films; the language does not matter as long as the role has substance. I want to be part of cinema from India.”

As Shriya’s father has a transferable job with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, she has lived all over the country, especially the North. “But now dad has been transferred to Mumbai and I am glad my parents are also around here.”
