 | | sea change: Abbas-Mustan |
Director-duo Abbas-Mustan, known for directing slick thrillers are now turning movie producers. The pair has already released the southern remake of the Marathi hit film Dombivli Fast with R Madhavan, which was directed by Nishikant Kamat.
Latest in transition
An industry insider informs, “With the corporate boom in the industry lots of people are turning producers. A-list actors have made this transition and now directors are following suit. The latest to add to the list are thriller specialists Abbas-Mustan.” Eros International are said to be the moneybags behind this move. Incidentally, Eros is in talks with David Dhawan too.”
Abbas-Mustan have signed directors Rumi Jaffrey and Rohit Jugraj (remember James?) to make films for their banner Burmawalla Bros. The name was registered with a producers’ association. “In all probability, Rohit’s film will the first film to go on the sets from Abbas-Mustan’s banner,” the source concludes.
Abbas said, “We will talk about it once a clearer picture emerges. Everything is being finalised now. We are currently tied up with the post-release of Race, our next project. We are going to be working with outside banners. We will surely do films of the producers we are already committed to.”
