It was choreographer-turned-director Ganesh Acharya who approached Akki to do an item number for the film.
Won’t do it for free
A source close to Akshay Kumar says, “In the past week, Akshay has been busy finishing the shooting schedules for two of his films, Singh is Kinng and 8X10, in Mumbai. Ganesh Acharya, who has a good working relationship with Akki, dropped in on his sets and asked him to do an item number in his upcoming project, MHTHH. Akki the straight-forward guy that he is, told Ganesh that he would do it for free had it been Ganesh’s project (he’s directing, not producing) but since it was not, he wanted to be paid his price.”
“The actor apparently asked the director to fix a meeting with the producer (Kumar Mangat) if they wanted to sign him. He quoted his price in the range of 1-1.5 crores. It is still to be seen whether or not the makers of the film will still want the actor for that fee,” concludes the source.
