Mumbai: Last Thursday, Ajay Devgan had to cancel all his shoot schedules due to his mother Veena's health scare. Her sudden illness required hospitalisation and caused a lot of anxious moments for the U, Me Aur Hum director.

The actor's mum suddenly took ill. The actor heard about it on the sets of Kirit Khurana's Toonpur Ka Superhero at Mehboob Studios, Bandra, and he rushed home to Juhu. As she was advised further medical care, the actor admitted her to Lilavati Hospital, Bandra.

Taken aback

Says a unit source, "Ajay was clearly in no condition to face the camera. The suddenness and gravity of the situation made him stop shooting immediately. He was taken aback when he received a call from home." It is learnt that his mum suffered from a major stomach infection that required urgent attention. Playing the dutiful son, Devgan spent most of his time in the hospital.

As Toonpur Ka Superhero is an animation film being shot in croma with Devgan and Kajol, the producers Kumar Mangat and Krishika Lulla had no choice but to cancel the shoot. The technical experts who had arrived from abroad also had to wait for the actor to return to the sets.

His mother was discharged from the hospital on Monday and Devgan began shooting again  yesterday.

Devgan's publicist confirms that the actor was unable to shoot from last Thursday due to the emergency. He informs, "His mother suddenly took ill and he had to be with her. But beginning yesterday afternoon, he  resumed work and shooting for Toonpur Ka Superhero is now on in full swing."
