No girls for Akki
By: Upala KBR

Mumbai:

No dates, boss! Asin
South actress Asin is no longer doing Priyadarshan's Aise Ko Taisa produced by Ratan Jain opposite Akshay Kumar.

While Akshay is not working with Priyanka Chopra, he's already done three films with Katrina Kaif and Kambakht Ishq is his fourth film with Kareena. The actor has been looking to be paired with the newer lot (Sonam, Deepika and Asin) aiming to make a hit jodi.

Asin was signed for Aise Ko Taisa and Akki was looking forward to this pairing. But now she's no longer part of the film.

Ratan, Priyan and Akki then approached Deepika Padukone, who wanted a bigger and better role."

In talks

The producer confirms, "We had never finalised Asin but were in talks. I really don't know why it didn't work out - there were a number of reasons - a big one was unavailability of dates. The Ghajini producers had booked her dates for the month of November for the film's promotion. We start shooting in November. Asin told us she had committed to them even before the shooting for Aamir's film began. In any case, we didn't need her that desperately. Don't know why but she was a bit uncomfortable with everything."

He adds, "Talks are on with Deepika. Whatever the role, it will adhere to the script. We can't alter the script to make it bigger or smaller. A heroine's role in a comedy is never big. Aise Ko Taisa is a film with three guys (Akshay, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal) and three girls. Right now, we're finalising the heroine opposite Akki. After that, we will decide the other female leads."

Not much choice

Jain rues the dearth of leading ladies in B-Town, "Priyan, Akshay and I are  discussing which heroine suits Akki the most. There are a few top actresses to choose from, if we take into account existing actresses. Of course, newcomers are always an option. We want the female lead opposite Akki to be bright, beautiful and physically suitable.

She has to be as tall as him. But we still have 90 days to choose our heroines and I am sure we will find a fantastic actress," concludes Jain, whose next release Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam releases on August 22.
