Remember that little girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black who stood out even in the presence of biggies like Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji? Nine-year-old Ayesha Kapoor, who played the young Rani in Black has now grown up into a beautiful 13-year old and she is returning to B-Town.

Ayesha starts shooting for her second Hindi movie from May 12. The working title of this film is Sikander. Piyush Jha, who has made films like King Of Bollywood and Chalo America is directing the film, which also stars Madhavan. Parzan Dastur, the played the Sikh kid in  Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is also part of the film. The film revolves around a boy who wants to play football.

The write choice

Ayesha, who used to call Big B by his first name on the sets of Black, is currently taking Hindi lessons for her new film, as she can’t speak the language. The teenager isn’t disappointed with the lack of offers after Black, says she wants to do many more things in life besides acting, “I want to become a writer, an actor and I want to do horse riding too.”

In fact, horse riding with friends is one of her main hobbies. Everyone in her family has their own horse. Ayesha’s horse is called Estigon. Ayesha is based in Auroville, a special township comprising people from all around the world and goes to Transition School. She is now in 8th standard. Many kids would envy her after knowing that there are no exams in her school. But she is a good student.

Meet the parents
Ayesha Kapoor is the daughter of Dilip Kapoor, the man behind the famous HIDESIGN label of leather bags. He is an Aurovilian. Her mother Jacqueline is a German who had come to Auroville as a tourist and fell in love with Dilip Kapoor. It was Jacqueline who set up the garment section of HIDESIGN.

She runs a boutique hotel, The Promenade, and has a boutique-cum-departmental store called Casablanca; both in Pondicherry. Along with four other women, she also runs a riding school in Auroville.
