| Dancing on: Sudeep, in Mysore, on the sets of Kamannana Makkalu |
Kamannana Makkalu is the story of two goons and their escapades from the cops. The film, directed by Chi Gurudutt stars Sudeep and Rockline Venkatesh as the two goons. While the film is all set for release, the soon to be held elections in the state could delay the release further.
However, the director says that the film will go on to have a spectacular release as it is a film that is going to be a winner.
All is good
Unlike producers and directors who believe that the pre-release hype will bring the initial audience in, Gurudutt is rather quiet about his fast approaching release. “I don’t believe in attracting unnecessary attention. I am aware that there will always be an audience for a film that is well made,” he says.
Gurudutt is also quite at ease while tackling the ever-existent question about choosing a remake instead of an original story. He says, “I can’t really see the difference between remakes and original films. For a director, it’s about shooting the entire film (irrespective of whether the story is new or old) keeping in mind the nativity of the audience for who the film is being made for. There are no new stories, it’s all about how you tell a story on screen. As long as the audience is entertained, you know it’s a job well done.”
Comedy cooper
The director made his debut with Dutta, which turned out to be a comedy. “Since the first one worked for me, I plan to make the most of this genre and therefore will stick to it for a few more films. Kamannana Makkalu is a comedy film too and is a role that is completely new for an actor like Sudeep,” he says.
