India:

Rekha plans on connecting with fans via the small screen. Wants to start her own channel to 'see herself' and 'carry her message'

While every big star from Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan are open to doing TV shows, Rekha wants to settle on her terms before  taking the plunge into the world of television.

The actress has grandiose plans. She wants to launch her own channel. Says Rekha, "If Aastha channel can be a medium for Baba Ramdev to carry his message across, why can't I create my own channel? I want my message to be broadcast via television. I also want to see myself. Nowadays I don't even get time to see myself in the mirror." Her last film was Yatra in 2006.

I wanna share

Sighs the reclusive diva,  "I know exactly what I want to do on television.  I realise my fans don't want me on television. But I'd like to share a part of myself with the audience. I won't like to do an Oprah Winfrey or a Simi Garewal. But I'd like to do something that would help me discover a new side of me through this journey. I'd like to know what people see in me and I'd like to share my thoughts with them. I want to reach out to my fans. I want a TV camera to capture the millions of expressions that dance on my face and I want the viewers to see all those expressions. Television will open up a whole new avenue for me. I'd get to change my body language and be right there connecting one-to-one with my fans. One needs to sometimes connect at that level also."

They have no idea

Unfortunately she isn't happy with   the offers she's getting. "TV channels even the new ones like Colors have unlimited finances, but have no idea of my potential and how much I'm capable of doing. They can't ask me to judge a dance show. When I don't know how to dance properly how   can I become a judge in front of the world?"

But she's looking forward to seeing herself on television, nevertheless.
