 IN THE RIGHT key: Emil

Music wonder kid Emil has one more feather to add to his cap. With his previous hit song, Jinke Marina, from the film, Nanda Loves Nanditha, continuing to top the popularity charts, the music director has brought A R Rahman's sister Raihana on board to sing in the film, Yogi.

High price

The movie stars Yogesh and Biyanka Desai in lead roles.

According to sources, Raihana is being paid Rs 1 lakh for the song.

Raihana was keen to finalise her remuneration before she sang for the film, despite this being her singing debut.

"Money wasn't a consideration between Raihana and me. I've known her since the time I worked with A R Rahman as a sound engineer. It was during this time that I found out about her interest in singing," says the music director.

"I told her about my plans to score music for the film Yogi, when we met recently. She liked the subject and was quite excited about recording for the movie. After a formal approval from  Rahman, we are preparing to a record for the film. The sample tune has come out very well. Raihana has done an excellent job," adds Emil.

Well done

The producer of the film, K Manju, is also thrilled with Raihana's song.

"She is just like her younger brother, Rahman. They are both down to earth people. Like Rahman, she knows a lot about music. It must be said that she follows instructions from the music director while recording. Her number is a street song, which is going to be the key attraction of the film. She has sung it really well," says Manju.

HIT JODI

Music director Emil who made his debut with the film, Nanda Loves Nanditha, will join hands with the lead actor of that film. Actor Yogesh will star in the film, Yogi.

Their combination has already created waves in the industry.  Nanda Loves Nanditha ran for 100 days in several theatres across the state, and will be remade in Tamil.
