On a recent trip to America, for the Millennium Development Goals initiative event held by Oxfam. Rahul Bose met up with Kristin Davis (Charlotte of Sex And The City).
Movie talk
Rahul describes her as warm and friendly, "We spoke at length about world cinema, Indian cinema and of course, Sex And The City though I have watched a few episodes. We also spent time chatting about collecting more funds. Kristin said she'd love to come to India."
Fighting evil
The Millennium Development Goals (which include the fight against hunger, poverty and illiteracy) initiative had other global celebrities and dignitaries like UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon, Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan, Elle Macpherson, Mary Robinson, Ela Bhatt, economist Jeffrey Sachs and Bono Kim.
Says the actor, "The idea was to sign our names as global ambassadors who have pledged to fight and remove poverty and illiteracy on a clear plexiglass which was mounted. General Moon took the pledge and all the 12 global dignitaries made speeches. I spoke about the shame of the world's hunger, poverty and illiteracy. We can choose to use words like ecosystem, paradigm shift, develop- mental initiatives or we can choose to use words like⦠this is insane, this is cruel, this doesn't make sense. Have the courage to put your hands out and say 'stop'. This is wrong, let's start again."
Bose has been associated with Oxfam for 4 years and has been their global ambassador for more than a year.
Good, Charlotte!
