Superstar Amitabh Bachchan was rushed to Nanavati Hospital on the morning of his 66th birthday when he was wracked with stomach pains.

According to an insider, Bachchan was unable to have his routine morning walk because of the pains. "He was even unable to take the many calls that were coming in from his friends on his birthday," said the source.

Nanavati medical superintendent Dr Ashok Hatolkar confirmed that the star had been brought in to the hospital.

"He was brought in for investigations but we are not allowed to comment further on his status as he is not our patient. He came in with his doctor Jayant Barve and has already left our hospital," said Hatolkar.

However to play on the safe side, Bachchan is now heading to Lilavati for another checkup. Hospital officials confirmed that he was currently on his way for 'some routine medical tests.'

When contacted Barve denied any knowledge about the matter. 'I have no idea about this. I cannot comment on the same," he said before hanging up.
