The promos of Roadside Romeo are on air. It releases this Friday. Close on its heels is Percept Picture Company's ambitious animation project titled Jumbo. While the Yash Raj film features Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Jumbo has Akshay Kumar 'starring' as the voice of the lead character.And the leading lady has the voice of Lara Dutta. Confirming this Percept Holdings Joint MD Shailendra Singh, says, "We are very excited about getting Lara on board. She will do the voiceover for an important character.
It's a great film and is in the league of Manmohan Desai's films. It has action, drama, and emotion all the ingredients that his films had."
Akki's choice
It is learnt that it was Akshay who was responsible for getting Lara on board the project. According to a source, "Akshay and Lara have become good friends after Blue's long schedule. He felt her voice would suit the character and asked her to see the film and decide if she wanted to be part of it. Lara loved the film and immediately agreed to dub for it." It is believed that Lara was so happy with the film that she has not charged the producers for it. Confirming this, Lara says, "I saw the film and thought it was a wonderful film for kids and definitely wanted to be a part of it. It is my first animated film for children, and yes, I haven't charged any money for it. I would like it to be a gift to my junior audience from my side. I am sure they will enjoy it! It has a wonderful theme to it and I feel honoured to be a part of such a project."
