Said the actress on her boho avatar in Balki's Paa

Vidya Balan has moved away from her traitional Indian look in Balki's Paa. She will be seen as a trendy lass - a college girl.

She will also be playing a wife to Abhishek Bachchan and a mother in the film, so there are two very distinctive looks. Vidya says, "I wanted to work with designer Sabyasachi Chakraborty as I felt he would grasp the character's sensibilities and reflect that in the way she dresses."

Feminine, please
The first look as a student studying abroad, is very  boho-chic-dresses made from Indian fabrics made in western style - long jackets,  gowns and skirts. She says, "I have always very comfy with European style outfits which are feminine and sensual.
 
I don't like Indian asexual clothing. I love outfits that look feminine and that's why I love the Anarkali style churidar-kurtas. My western look in Paa is fun and casually thrown together stuff - somewhat like I am in real life.  I am not the kind of person who plans my wardrobe. I pick up things I like wearing and wear them according to my comfort."

Sober look
For her second look in Paa Vidya goes more traditional, "Sabya has given me plain cotton sarees from various regions of India with simple stark borders and nice interesting blouses. It's a serious and sober look. I love wearing organic stuff and that's why I love cotton and coarse materials as fabrics.

Indian textiles have so much to offer us." Her favorite designers include Sabyasachi, Divya, Priyadarshini Rao and Abu-Sandeep. "To me style is an extension of the person you are. You should define your clothes - they shouldn't define you.

Vidya adds, "I enjoyed wearing my outfits in Paa because of the certain casualness and feminine appeal they had. It's like the flower power generation - lots of colour, brightness and warmth. I love colour and Sabya uses lots of them - he has an unusual sense of colours and aesthetics."
