Ameesha Patel celebrated a quiet Diwali with her friends and grandmother in Pune. She says, "I never burst crackers even as a child. I feel that lighting crackers is like burning money which would be better utilised for a needy child's education or food or clothes.
Crackers pollute the air with their chemicals and adds to noise pollution also. Also, I would never buy crackers because I have heard that small children are used for labour in firecracker factories. So, when I used to get money from my family during Diwali, I would give it away for charity."
