The music composer picks his flicks...

MAWAALI: As I was born around the same time the film released, I was given this nickname! The Jeetendra-Jaya Prada-Sridevi starrer had my dad (Bappi Lahiri) score the music. It was a South remake, directed by K Bapaiah. The Mawaali tag stuck with me for several years till I saw the film. It was my food-time movie -- I would eat only when the video cassette would start. So don't ask me how many times I have seen Mawaali. It was a daily viewing.

PATAAL BHAIRAVI: The horrific faces and the flying objects in the movie intrigued me no end. This was a film, which had special effects of that time! I would endlessly wonder how on earth stuff would be flitting around and wonder at those faces with all that make-up.

PADOSAN: I have grown up watching this comedy only for its music. It is the best. Also, the performances by its star cast which includes Sunil Dutt and Mehmood. I had a video cassette of it, which I would keep on playing -- sometimes only for the songs and sometimes, only to watch the hilarious scenes.

RAMBO: Sylvester Stallone was the ultimate for me. I had bought the entire collection of Rambo toys. From First Blood to the rest in the series, I devoured them all. Rambo made the impossible possible single-handedly. I would marvel at him in awe.

THANEDAAR: Primarily, because of its song Tamma Tamma Loge picturised on Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt. This was the first computerised recording of a song in Bollywood. My dad, who composed the song, had converted our drawing room into a music studio with all kinds of new electronic equipment. The track was recorded on December 31 night and we had celebrated the new year with the song. Later, when the film released, it was a must-watch every now and then for me.
