Despite having a three-film contract with Yash Raj Studios, word is he’s keen on his own production house.

Starting out as an editor, Shimit was roped in by YRF for Chak De! India and Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year. He is yet to start work on his third but looks like he already has other plans up his sleeve.

A source says, “He has already finalised a director for the film. He’s going to launch his own assistant to helm the project. The assistant’s identity and other details are under wraps.” So does that mean he and the studio have parted ways? “No, Shimit is working for a new script with us,” says a studio rep.
