On the sets of an upcoming remake, when director Avinash Kumar Singh told the veteran actor he would be required to dance, he almost fell off his seat.

The director says, “When he realised he had to jive, he thought we had gone mad. He just didn’t know how to react.”

It was only when choreographer Charu Shankar led Farooque on to the dance floor did he realise that the director was pretty serious about it. Incidentally, his co-star Deepti Naval is a trained dancer.

The source adds, “They were laughing as they rehearsed their steps. It went effortless in the end.”

Farooque says, “Deepti is a trained dancer and has had to put up with me in the past as well.”
