If youre the sort that runs miles away from the cakey made-up look, the natural look is perfect for your eyes. It a clinch once you keep the following tips in mind
* Prior to applying any other make-up product, moisturise your eyelids using some concealer or foundation. This evens out the base and helps the colour glide on smoothly.
* Lightly brush eyelids with a translucent powder.
* Pick out eyeshadow (yellowish or brownish) thats close to your natural skin tone. Coat your eyelid, starting all the way from the end of your lash and move up to your brow bone using a medium-sized brush.
* Put the curl back into your lashes. Place an eyelash curler at the root of your lashes and gently sweep in the upward direction. See to it that the pressure you apply is uniform throughout. Also ensure that you apply eyeshadow before you curl your lashes, so that you dont end up with messy, webbed lashes. Make-up experts swear by this step, because it opens up the eyes and creates an appealing fan-like look.
* Now for the mascara. Choose either a coloured or transparent one, depending on the occasion. Sweep it on; first on your top lashes and then on lower lashes, concentrating on the tips. But, avoid mascara overkill on your roots, unless you dig the furry tarantula look.
* Before your lashes dry, run an eyelash comb through them.
* To maintain the natural look for your lower eyelids too, use a small eyeshadow brush to line your lower lid with the same colour, keeping as close to the lash line as possible.
[2] Smoky eyes: Shilpa Shetty
This type of eye make-up adds to the sultry look, and looks great in soft, evening light
* Apply foundation and translucent powder on the eyelids, like you would do in case of the natural eye look.
* Coat the whole eyelid, from the lashes to the brow bone, with a neutral eyeshadow.
* Now, apply tiny, measured strokes along upper and lower lash lines using a soft eyeliner pencil in shades such as black, chocolatey brown or charcoal gray.
Smudge gently with the rubber tip of the liner; do not use your hands.
* Depending on the colour of your eyes, (browns perfect for dark eyes, while dark greys fine for light ones) brush eyeshadow on your eyelid crease.
See that you dont go above the crease line that forms when you open your eyes.
* Curl lashes and apply mascara, following steps listed to get natural eyes.
[3] Shine is fine: Konkona Sen Sharma
Konkonas gone blue over the eyes to match her traditional sari, plus, dabbed on a little sheen that goes well with the evening look. Great for a night-out; we certainly dont recommend this look for everyday wear. It looks best on those under 35. Those older, should stick to cream shadows
* Follow steps for eyelids, foundation and powder, as mentioned in the natural look.
* Dab on some loose powder generously below your lower lashes. This serves as a circus net to trap any extra make up that falls off, which can be brushed off with ease later.
* Evenly sweep on your favourite shade of eyeshadow liberally. Work your way up from the lash line to the brow bone.
Lightly dust off traces of extra powder with a large powder brush.
* Curl lashes and apply mascara.
* Carefully coat the coloured lid with a thin, even film of vaseline using a brush.
* Swap Vaseline with shimmer shadow for a longer-lasting glossy look.
[4] Neutral nonchalance: Perfect for the working woman
It might sound similar to the natural look, but you need to use more products and have a skilled hand to perfect the neutral look. Once you get it right, you can safely carry off this look at the workplace, as well as a formal dinner. This is one look that looks great on everyone
* Start by applying foundation, and brushing your lids with some powder. Because sunglasses protect only your eyes from the summer sun
* Roll a soft eyeshadow brush in brown eyeshadow powder and blend into the inner and outer corners of your eyes and the area under your lower lashes.
* Now, gently fill in the gap between the brown edges with a lighter shade (something peachy or yellowish) thats close to your skin tone.
* Blend it in well, so that you arent left with a patchy effect.
* To intensify the neutral look, use an ivory highlighter. Start a little above the eyelid crease and work your way upward to the brow bone.
* Gently curl lashes with an eyelash curler.
* Sweep on mascara on top and bottom lashes, working your way outward, towards the outer edges of your eyes.
* Run an eyelash comb through your lashes while theyre still wet, and follow it up with a second mascara coat before it hardens.
* Brush some apricot blusher down the hairline on either side of your eyes and along the temples using a bigger brush.
If you have been braving the sun with a pair of sunglassses, great. They do protect your eyes, but dont stop the sun from tanning the rest of your face.
So, if the skin around your eyes seems lighter than the rest of your face, heres what you can do.
Pick a foundation thats the shade of the tanned skin to cover the area under your eyes, and blend it well with the rest of the face. Then, use nude or light brown eyeshadow for a natural look.
