My funky coloured ties shocked my colleagues says Nagesh Kukunoor

From the US returned misfit of Hyderabad Blues, to the school teacher of Rockford, Nagesh Kukunoor talks on fashion and style.

Fashion -- I am among the least fashion conscious people you'd ever get to see in the industry. For some reason I love being part of the background. Kya kare hate too much attention. I'm not particularly interested in dressing very hip. It's only my Henley's and jeans. For me wearing an inner T-shirt is a big variation now.

Shopping -- Maybe i'm least fashion conscious because I hate shopping. I've never loved to shop. My shopping for clothes has always been combined with my shopping for stuff like DVDs and CDs, which I really love and without which I cannot live.

Fashion consciousness then and now -- Though I must admit I was not always like this. I was a little fashion conscious during my working days as a chemical engineer back in the US. In fact I used to try keeping myself ahead of times. I used to wear those funky ties with wild bright and colourful patterns way back in 1991. The ties, which later on became a craze in the US during 1993 used to shock my colleagues at work. Not just that, at a time when formal dressing involved striped shirts, I had the entire range of solid shirts ranging from red to yellow to you name it.

Brands -- are good for the simple fact that they last. They really last! I usually wear 32 - 32 Calvin Klien jeans as they fit perfectly with the girth around my waist. I used to be a big Levis fan earlier. Come to think of it any henley, all kinds of comfortable footwear and a 32 - 32 Clavin Klien staright fit, blue or black jeans is all that wear.

Accessories -- I'll never wear any kind of jewellery, except for my watch, which I consider jewellery. I never even carry a visiting card or cash in my wallet. Of course I do carry my credit card. I may be dumb but not stupid. As for body tatoos and piercing - that is something that I'd never do. Coming back to clothes, the last I remember experimenting was the Calvin Klein flat front side pocket khakis, which I must say is a big difference after you are used to wearing your jeans. Come to think of it was quite comfortable.
