Wear the blazer right
By: URMIMALA BANERJEE

Mumbai: A blazer is a versatile piece of garment that can be worn to almost every occasion. But, you are prone to making mistakes with a garment of this sort. Here are a few points that will help you don your blazer the right way:

Right Fit
While buying a blazer, please pay attention to the fit. Make sure it doesn't look like the Superman cape

Sleeve It
If you are wearing shirts with French cuffs make sure that the sleeves of your shirt are longer than that of your blazer. Your shirt shouldn't be hidden in your blazer

Button It
"Right now, the two-three button blazers are in. Unless it's a one-button blazer, never button the last button. It will cause difficulty while walking. If it's a three button blazer, button the first two or the middle button," suggests Abhishek

No Roll
Never roll up the sleeves of your blazer at a dinner table. This is an absolute no-no even if SRK does it

Iron Well
"Ensure that your blazer is really well-ironed. Even a slight crease can make it look bad," says fashion designer Abhishek Dutta. Make sure that you don't sit on the backside flap of your blazer, always lift it a little before sitting. Or else it will look crushed under your weight once you get up

Tie Tip
If you are sporting a tie with a blazer always ensure that the colour is a slight contrast from the colour of the shirt and the blazer

Hanky-Wise
Don't stuff your hanky into your blazer pocket. Fold it neatly and tuck it in the pocket

Colour Code
Buying a white blazer isn't a bad idea, but wearing it with white trousers is. Remember, you're not a cricket umpire. You can keep the blacks, tans or khaki ones for work and sport the white one to a party.  The girls will surely give you a dekko

Match
"A skyblue shirt with a black blazer and trouser looks hot. A white shirt too is classic," says Abhishek

Team With
You can pair your blazers with jeans, khakis or chinos. "Wear it over a waistcoat to get a real formal look," says Abhishek

Let Loose
When you sit down unbutton your blazer it will give a better fall to your outfit
