Getting rid of yellow nails
By: Payal Kamat

Mumbai: If you didn't already know, jaundiced nails don't look hot. So, if you are wondering how to get back the natural shine of your nails, follow these tips by Pamy Kaur, Sally Hansen nail expert:

Cuticle oil is extremely necessary for nails. The molecules in this oil are very small and they enter your skin, strengthening your nails. You can use coconut oil too. When you are sitting idle, just rub in the oil, it lends softness and helps in growth

Use the right product. Quality is the key to keep the yellowness away from your nails. A good quality base coat and nail polish won't harm your nails even if you don't take it off for a period of 30 days

Nail nourishment is extremely important. Before you polish your nails, apply a base coat, especially if you are using dark nail paint. For lighter shades, apply a top coat which is a UV absorber

File your nails at least once in a week. Don't forget to buff them. Buffing will do away with the dead skin, takes away minor ridges and the yellowness, lending it a deep shine

Manicure nails every 15 to 20 days. But stay away from cuticle nipples, as you can't be sure about their hygiene. Also, apply the base coat and the nail paint a hairline breath away from the cuticles

Consume vitamin A for healthy nails. And, don't dip them in water often, as water is known to spoil nails
