Bring some spark to your life this weekend
By: Payal Kamat

Mumbai: A long weekend has just gone by and if you feel that you've been twiddling your thumb waiting for your friends to make up their minds on how to spend it, we tell you how to make the most of the coming weekend. So what if you have only two days? We'll tell you how to spend them well:

1. Take a quick trip
Plan a one-day trip to one of the water resorts if you are a water baby. If you are into nature, drive down to Malshej ghat, Lonavala/Khandala or head to a fort like Lohagad, Rajmachi, etc, for a hike. The rains are going to make your last-minute planned trip a memorable one. Or if nothing else, just a long drive in your car will rejuvenate you.

2. Shop till you drop
This activity is supposed to be an exercise in weight loss. Studies show that women lose around 200 pounds at one shopping escapade. So if you don't want to gain some weight gobbling goodies at home, head to a multi-branded mall, and lose some cash to stay in shape. Also, there are hundreds of sale/discounts in town.

3. Join the movie marathon
If you have been cribbing that you haven't got any chance to watch the latest flicks, here's your opportunity. Order some DVDs from your movie library, make some popcorn and plop on your couch in front of the TV. Or simply head to the theatres and catch the latest silver screen releases back to back.

4. Catch up on sleep
If your busy schedule has deprived you of sleep, just close your door and snore away to glory. Put a Do Not Disturb sign if your family doesn't get the clue. Or just plug in some cotton balls in your ears. Better still, go to a spa and get a body massage. Not only will it remove kinks from your muscles, but also lull you into a deep sleep as you breathe in the aromatic and calm ambience.

5. Be a gracious host
You aren't going to get a better chance to catch up with friends. And if you don't want to step out in the rains, call them over to your place. Impress them with your specialities. So while the girlies bond over some good wine, cheese, chocolates and gossip, boys can share some high fives over beer, biryani and Olympic games !
