First things first. If you compare Genius MP 300 with the Apple iPod, you'll surely be disappointed. But if you don't care about the brand, then this handheld multimedia player is a decent combination of looks and audio engineering. Here's a marksheet.
What's cool
MP 300 lets the user watch full motion videos on the 2.4 inch, 320x240 pixels, 262k true colour LCD display and uses a touch keypad to select all the options. Apart from the MP3 and WMA audio, the gadget plays AVI video, photo slide shows and FM radio.
There is also the facility of recording the radio program. With a 2GB flash memory, the player has a built-in stereo speaker and microphone. The product supports photo and slide show functions in different speeds and it's the USB storage that's compatible with Windows Vista/XP/2000, Mac OS 10 and Linux 2.4 that makes the piece attractive.
What's not
The audio quality is not something you will cherish while using this product. It's average. The earpiece looks downmarket and is inconveniently short in length. Then, the touch keys do not respond quickly. They are extremely slow. The list of flipsides does not end here. The company assures a battery backup of close to nine hours of audio and three hours of video playback, but the battery backup does not last two hours even in the audio mode. Moreover, the radio signals are not consistent and clear.
