Whether a runway music CD is worth your money or not
Repetitive bassline hits the runway
Despite having roped in two of the biggest names on the mixing front ATFC and Defected Records, UK, Lakmé's effort to transform runway glitz into an earth-shattering record is a big dud.
On Disc One, ATFC's mixing skills seem impeccable, if only it weren't for the poor selection of disco/funk/progressive house numbers; the inane lyrics dished out by a Faithless-ish sounding DJ, forcing you to dance, amplified the misery.
On Disc 2, Copyright's Simon Dunmore's selection of tracks is again, extremely monotonous, to the point that the first five had to be fast-forwarded, hoping to find a more upbeat relief towards the latter half. Only to be left letdown. Tracks by Dirty South featuring Chocolate Puma, and The Shapeshifters on both discs respectively, are the only ones with their individual sound. All others get lost into the trashy house bracket that most have outgrown, hopefully.
