8 ways to get rid of your pimples
By: Vipasha Pillai

Mumbai: Are you sick and tired of those ugly, stubborn red spots on your face? Don't you worry. We will tell you how to get rid of them. Dr Bina Wadhawan, naturopathy expert says, "Oily, heaty and spicy food are the main causes of pimples. There are a lot of antibiotics today that can help you get rid of them but if you don't control your diet, there's absolutely nothing that you can do to avoid pimples."

She further adds, "Increase the intake of fruits and vegetables in your diet and make sure you drink hot water after each meal." Here are a few more tips that can help you get rid of pimples:

Steam your face twice a week. This opens up the pores. Let it breath and wash your face with a mild soap and cold water. This helps close the open pores

Drink plenty of water. Always keep a bottle of water in your car, handbag or at your desk. Water not only makes your skin look soft but also fights acne

Always use a moisturiser after you wash your face, but make sure it's not too oily. Also, make it a point to apply sunscreen before you step out in the sun

Rub an ice cube as soon as you discover a pimple or a whitehead forming under your skin. Remember, ice helps shrink pimples and controls the oiliness

Keep your hands off your face. This is extremely important — please don't touch or prick your break outs, it'll leave scars on your face

Caffeine increases the levels of stress hormones in the body and can aggravate acne. So make sure you avoid too much of coffee, tea, chocolates, soft drinks

Consumption of sugary products and yeast should also be avoided. These are foods that increase the formation of acne

Try this. Dab a little toothpaste (not the gel ones) on the pimple before you go to bed. Do this for a week and see the change

Hiding Pimples
* Before you apply any product on your skin, wipe your skin with a toner using a cotton ball to dry up excess oil
* Once the toner dries, dab a little concealer directly on the pimple. Opt for a medicated concealer, which contains anti-blemish ingredients such as bentonite and salicylic acid
* Allow the concealer to dry, and then blend the edges of the concealer with a cosmetic sponge or a cotton ball. Alternatively you can use a makeup brush with a tiny dab of concealer on it to paint out the edges. The point here is to soften the edges and make them less obvious
* Once the concealer is completely dry, use a powder brush to set it. Loose powder is preferable. Just fluff some powder on top with a powder brush
* If you apply foundation around the pimple, use a foundation with a yellow base, as yellow will reduce the pimple's redness
