Ladies, no need to hide that baby bump of yours under layers of unflattering clothing. You'll only look fatter if you try to do that. Don't stop yourself from investing in maternity wear only because you think that those clothes will be rendered useless after a few months. Nine months is a long time, and you can't be looking dowdy at work for three-fourths of a year. So, here are some fashion tips for all to-be moms:
* Tights/leggings are a great option, suggests fashion designer Anjalee Kapoor. "You could team knee-length leggings with smart tunics for a stylish look. But make sure that the tunic is constructive, well-fitting on top and flowing towards the bottom," she says. Wear flat-soled tie-ups to complete the look.
* You could also invest in a few wrap around skirts. You can wear them even after the pregnancy. Just don't make it too tight around the waist. Knee-length wrap arounds look great with short tees and shirts. However, you could even wear the ankle-length ones if you're more comfortable in them.
* Capris/jeans with Lycra around the belly make for comfortable maternity wear. You could wear them on casual Fridays with your regular tees or shirts.
* If you want to look trendy, maxis made of jersey material are the thing for you, suggests Anjalee. If they're halters or spaghettis, you could team them with smart jackets.
* Long, flowing skirts are a big hit too with to-be mommies. They're comfortable and look very feminine. Team them with an elegant white or black top, and you're the perfect definition of a yummy mummy.
* Nothing like a smart salwar-kurta for your preggy days. They not only look formal and corporate, but also camouflage your baby bump.
* Remember skin is in. Wear tops with deep necklines to look and feel great. Having said that, please ensure that your cleavage is not visible at work. You could accessorise your ensemble with beaded jewellery or semi-precious stones.
* Vibrant colours will make you feel cheerful. We understand that you could be feeling down in the dumps during your pregnancy, but bright colours might just lift your mood and make you feel better.
* For more formal events, stick to black. It's the safest bet and is bound to make you look slimmer and more chic !
Even though you can't sport most of these looks to office, we tell you how to can incorporate celebrity style in your clothing:
*Flowing clothes made of soft materials like chiffon and georgette look elegant and feminine
*If you're wearing tube tops or spaghettis, make sure you team them with smart jackets or waistcoats
*Black rules. You could don an executive suit like Jolie's for a super-formal get-up
*Opt for dresses or tops that are tight till your upper waist and flow towards the bottom *If you really want to flaunt your baby bump, try wearing Lycra tops. They're comfortable and casual
