You new book is completely different from your earlier ones.
With fiction, you enjoy a certain level of flexibility of thought and hence I have liked that. But I had always wanted to write about Indian history. However, a relevant era kept me waiting.
What is the piece all about?
The book is fictional but the situations that I have talked about are true, in the sense that it talks about prevalent experiences of different people. There are two aspects of it one set in pre independence state of Mysore where both the Britishers and royal kings co existed and the second part revolves around the changes that people has to cope with post independence.
So how did you zero down on the period?
The Thirties and the Forties were the times when there were a lot of changes in the mindset of people and hence it caught my attention.
Why did you choose kids as the protagonists?
Since the first day I started thinking about the book, I was sure that I will narrate the story through Kaveri and Setu the child characters. I strongly feel that if you want to talk about a change that has been seen over decades, it has to be through children because they have lived with the transformation.
