If you've got chapped lips, you certainly aren't doing anyone any lip service, literally. Dry lips aren't a very pretty sight to behold. So, here's what you can do to heal your lips and keep them soft and moist:Use an oil-based lubricating cream or lip balm containing petrolatum or beeswax
Apply lip cream, balm or lipstick before going out in cold or dry weather. Make sure you apply it every hour. Don't wait till your lips turn dry
Also make sure you choose a lip cream or balm that contains sunscreen. Remember, sun exposure contributes to chapped lips
When lips are chapped, they're more sensitive, and certain foods can irritate them. So, go slow on pepper, mustard, barbecue sauce, orange juice, and alcoholic beverages
Avoid licking your lips often and using flavoured lip balms. This can worsen your lips
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Dehydration can also contribute to chapped lips
Simple home remedies
* Grind rose petals with some fresh cream and apply it on your lips
* Mix 2 drops of glycerin with 1 tsp lime juice and apply it on your lips
* Mix equal quantities of nutmeg, turmeric, fresh butter and apply the mixture. Leave it on for fifteen minutes.
* Mix 2 drops of glycerin with 1 tsp of cream and apply it on your lips for a smooth and shiny look
